A Louisiana tourist claims he saw Brian Laundrie drinking alone at a bar in Montana a day before Gabby Petito was last seen alive.
Hunter Mannies, 44, explained to the New York Post he saw a man who resembled Laundrie wearing a hoodie and drinking alone at Bullwinkle’s Saloon in West Yellowstone on Aug. 26.
Mannies explained that Laundrie appeared to be “mad at the world” and interfered in a conversation between Mannies and his friend.
“The convo got into hunting and guns and politics. The guy just looked mad and then at some hush in the conversation, he said, ‘Stupid southerners and f—ing Republicans. “ He reportedly said
Mannies added that Laundrie introduced himself shortly afterward but got a weird vibe from him throughout the night.
“I kind of laughed and said, ‘Well, where are you from? and he said, ‘New York,” Mannies said. “And I said, ‘Okay, New York’ and he said, “I have a name, it’s Brian,” he explained.
Two weeks after the encounter, Mannies said he saw Laundrie on the news and recognized him as the man at the bar based on his behavior in the bodycam footage.
“Just the way he carried himself and I heard his voice, it was him,”
Mannies also spoke with the FBI for 45 minutes about his encounter with Laundrie.
