A 38-year-old man was arrested in Paphos on Tuesday for resisting arrest for assaulting a police officer.
According to Paphos Police representative Michalis Nikolaou, the police officer on duty was pulled over at a red light on Anexartisias Street at 18:00 when a car hit her own private car and she was involved in a traffic accident.
After claiming to be a police officer, the officer got out of the car and asked the driver of the other car for his ID card and driver’s license.
However, the 38-year-old allegedly reacted badly and became violent towards the officer while resisting arrest. The officers then asked for the intervention of other officers who quickly arrived on the scene and took the 38-year-old man into custody. According to Nikolaou, the man was driving the car without a valid driver’s license.
