Tennis Star Novak Djokovic just issued a lengthy apology, saying “This hard lesson is a moment of growth for my skills”.
Novak Djokovic writes, “This whole situation has left me really sad and empty.
I checked on the lines person and the tournament told me that thank God she is feeling ok. I‘m extremely sorry to have caused her such stress. So unintended. So wrong.”
The Serbian tennis player goes on to say that he’s sorry to the U.S. Open as a whole for his behavior, while also thanking his fans and family for supporting him through the controversy.

This whole situation has left me really sad and empty. I checked on the lines person and the tournament told me that thank God she is feeling ok. I‘m extremely sorry to have caused her such stress. So unintended. So wrong. I’m not disclosing her name to respect her privacy. As for the disqualification, I need to go back within and work on my disappointment and turn this all into a lesson for my growth and evolution as a player and human being. I apologize to the @usopen tournament and everyone associated for my behavior. I’m very grateful to my team and family for being my rock support, and my fans for always being there with me. Thank you and I’m so sorry. Cela ova situacija me čini zaista tužnim i praznim. Izvinjavam se organizatorima US Opena. Veoma sam zahvalan svom timu i porodici što mi pružaju snažnu podršku, kao i mojim navijačima jer su uvek uz mene. Hvala vam i žao mi je. Bio je ovo težak dan za sve.
Tennis star Novak Djokovic was alleged to hit the tennis ball out of frustration- this cost him a chance to make history at this year’s U.S. Open.
Djokovic was disqualified from the rest of the tournament Sunday in the middle of his fourth-round match against Pablo Carreno Busta.
The score was 6-5 in the first set and Novak angrily and haphazardly smacked a ball that hit a lineswoman.
It doesn’t appear he tried to hit her, but the fact he struck her (in the neck, no less) and got her removed from the action was enough.
In the video clip, he immediately ran over to check on her, but the deed was already done.

Once he was instructed he couldn’t play anymore, he quickly grabbed his things and exited the court … not before giving some handshakes to his opponent and the main judge.
The line judge was escorted off the court, and she made sure to give Novak a “what the hell is that kind of look” !!!
